Significant Features and Benefits

Blacktail Hoist offers features and benefits not available on any comparable product on the market today.  It is a new style of hoisting machine using wire rope and incorporates a recently patented design for lifting objects using the principle of zero fleet angle winch design.  The drum is oriented parallel to the load path, allowing the load to remain in the same relative position during travel.

Blacktail received a patent for this design in 2019.

Attenuated Stopping for Greater Safety

All lifting machines possess an inherent problem when a sudden loss of power due to an emergency or uncontrolled stopping event occurs, referred to as a Category 0 E-Stop.   This results in excessive brake forces being applied to the support structure, the hoist, and the object being lifted. The Blacktail hoist alleviates this problem with attenuated E Stopping that can reduce this impact by up to 40%.

Labor Saving Features Reduce Costs

This is a compact machine that lifts up to 1,000 lbs.  It measures 9" x 15" x 18" and weighs approximately 100 lbs. making it portable and easy to transport.  In its current configuration, it has a maximum travel of 50 ft. and runs at 60 ft.min.  All electronic devices, including the Drive Controller and UPS System are located on-board.  It can be operated with a pendant or through a software interface.

Multiple Units Can Be Synchronized

With its on-board drive controller, multiple units can be synchronized.  Precision control of position enhances the benefit of multiple units working in unison.

Patented Design

The original concept for this hoist was patented in 2011.  A new patent that covers the unique design and adds the important safety feature of Attenuated E-Stopping was granted in 2019. Backtail technology can be utilized for industrial, commercial, entertainment, construction, government, military and other applications.
