Blacktail Hoist is truly a “first of its kind product” that replaces the chain motor unit and its accompanying bag with a compact, portable “all in one” wire rope hoist. The portability of Blacktail’s design presents significant advantages over cumbersome heavy chain hoists, chain bags and heavy chain lengths.

The unique design features of Blacktail Hoist provides many benefits to simplify the operation of the machine as well as to make the operation much more productive than comparable chain hoists and other wire rope hoists.

Blacktail Hoist is lighter, smoother, faster, more controllable, and features attenuated emergency stopping, which prevents a sudden stop resulting from removal of operating power from a loss of power to the building, an emergency or other uncontrolled event. It was created based on engineering and design used in many of the largest theater and outdoor entertainment venues, where safety and efficiency are of paramount importance.

Blacktail Hoist features electronic controls that allow the operator to vary speed and enables the precise monitoring of location. Multiple units can be simultaneously operated from a central control unit and can be synchronized for the movement of large pieces. Electronic controls will also allow for multiple units to be pre-programmed to function automatically.

Blacktail Hoist is much quieter than a chain hoist which reduces ambient noise levels where multiple units are operating. In addition, Blacktail Hoists may be used during entertainment performances to move sets and lighting without creating distracting noise. It is conceivable that Blacktail Hoists could be used with live performers after further development.

The movement of wire rope is smooth, elegantly guided on and off its grooved drum. Blacktail has none of the “stutter” motion of a chain hoist operation.  Blacktail Hoist can be oriented in any direction, including horizontal and inverted. With chain hoists, chain weight and the resulting chain sag prohibit any type of horizontal chain pull. The Blacktail, with its light-weight wire rope, accomplishes this with ease, providing added utility.
